Our Story
Behind the “Lamb Shoppe” is a mother-daughter team, Connie & Clara. Our story started over 20 years ago. When Clara was only four years old, unexplained health issues started to show up, and her weight went down to 28 pounds. Clara's health and vitality started to decline. Her parents took her to many doctors and specialists who, unfortunately had no answers. Desperate to turn this around, her parents decided to try natural medicine and consult with an herbalist. This visit was life changing as it became a wellness journey that would come full circle.

After being utterly amazed by the healing power of "weeds" growing in their backyard, Connie went back to school to study herbal medicine. As Clara grew up, she continued to be emersed in many holistic health modalities and knew she had a passion for helping others in similar situations.

The Lamb Shoppe opened in 1996 as a small retail spot selling 100% grass-fed lamb raised on the farm. In 2010, it expanded to offer more health products. For many years, the mother-daughter team dreamed about a holistic wellness center where like-minded individuals can work together as a reliable resource in the community. In 2019, the business expanded again to include a full service Wellness Center, classroom space and sleeping accommodations.
Meet the Herbalists
Today, herbal medicine is a large component of the Lamb Shoppe & Wellness Center. Connie & Clara are trained herbalist professionals integrating modern research, clinical, and time-proven traditional herbal medicine. Both practitioners are passionate about sharing this information with others through educational classes and holistic wellness visits.
What We Offer
Bulk Herbs & Teas
We carry over 150 organic herbs and spices! We harvest and dry as many herbs from our herbal garden. We work with other organic sustainable businesses to supply those we can't grow. We also have a custom blended tea product line.
Wellness Services
Both Connie Karstens & Clara Rathke incorporate herbal medicine into their holistic practice. Each wellness program is tailored to meet the individual’s specific needs.
Tinctures & Salves
The Lamb Shoppe & Wellness Center grows, gathers, and uses many locally found botanicals for wildcrafted herbal tinctures, medicinal teas, infused oils, salves, and syrups. We also offer a variety of other herbal products at our Farm Shoppe.
Classes & Events
We offer a variety of classes on Herbal Medicine including herb/plant walks, workshops, & Become A Home Herbalist programs. Check out our event page for what we are currently offering.
Educational Material
Connie is the author of an educational card set series on herbal medicine education and wild foraging. The set includes Nature’s Medicine, Garden Medicine, Making and Using Herbal Preparations Simplified, and Wild Edible Plant Collection.
Herbal Internships
