Hand Blade Shearing School

Hand blade sheep shearing is an old world techique. This 3-day comprehensive course will cover all aspects of hand blade sheep shearing. There will be hands-on learning along with classroom time. You will learn from the two top hand blade shearing experts from the United States. 

Included skills that will be taught are: blade preparation, grinding, sharpening, proper set of the blades and proper pointing techniques. In addition, you will learn body positioning, foot placement, proper use of the left hand, turning and setting up the sheep for shearing. Along with this you will learn the differences in shearing patterns from machine shearing. Information on techniques for different sheep breeds and various wool types, wrinkles and disposition will also be covered. Also discussed is appropriate shearing clothing and footware, diet and exercise and organizing a shearing business. Both beginner & intermediate shearers are welcome.
