Founders Herb Walk 2022

This morning will be filled with herbal knowledge from two local experts, Doug Schmoll & Connie Karstens. Join us on the Lamb Shoppe farm to discover herbal wisdom about plant identification, medicinal herbs, wild edibles, and more. This year will mark the 25th annual Herb Walk. We will take a stroll through the herbal garden and the farm’s backyard to learn about wild plants and their uses!  

About Doug Schmoll: Doug Schmoll is the owner of Potpourri Health Foods in downtown Willmar, MN which has been in business for over 40 years. He has organized the Founders Herb Walk for over 20 years. 

About Connie Karstens: Connie Karstens is the owner and founder of the Lamb Shoppe & Wellness Center. She holds a BS in biology and an MS in health and nutrition education. She has studied herbalism for 20 years. In her practice, Connie offers wellness consultations incorporating herbs, whole foods nutrition, and other natural remedies.

• Bring your own picnic lunch for afterward and dine amongst the plants! Snacks & beverages are available for purchase at the farm Shoppe. 
• Feel free to bring blankets/lawn chairs for during/after the herb walk.
• Dress appropriately for the weather. No pets allowed. 

$5 per person at door (cash) or prepay online.

Sprouting Seeds & Beans with Ed Geiger @1:30 pm - 2:00 pm

Learn the ins and outs of sprouting and how it can inexpensively add nutrition to your diet while being prepared for possible food shortages ahead. 

Wild Edible Plants @ 2:00 pm – 2:30 pm

Stay after the herb walk to learn about wild edible foraging. You will learn about harvesting and tips to prepare wild edibles including garlic mustard, daylilies, stinging nettle, spruce, burdock, and more.
