About the event

Did you know that Lavender and Creeping Charlie are in the same plant family, and they both help relax your blood vessels? What is the relationship between Dandelions and Daisies, and why is it important? This workshop is for anyone who loves medicinal plants and wants to grow their plant knowledge! You will learn how to develop skills that understand the relationships between plant families and the importance of how this connects the plant's medicinal properties. This workshop will help you become better at plant identification and know the unique characteristics that set each family apart.

This 3.5-hour workshop will include learning to use pattern recognition and other key identifying features of plant families, including leaf shape arrangement, flower structure, and more. Once you understand herbal botany, you can often recognize a plant and whether it is edible or medicinal even before you can identify the species based on the patterns. You will never look at plants the same way again.

Please Note:

  • This workshop is open to anyone
  • No prior education on this topic is needed to take this workshop
  • Although this workshop would be beneficial for anyone interested in plants, it is highly recommended for Home Herbalist students (past, present, or future).
